Tune and your data
Last updated 22 October 2026
In short: Tune collects nothing and can’t go online — it has no internet permission. Volume levels are kept on your phone.
What Tune collects
Nothing. Tune has no internet permission, so it couldn’t send anything if it wanted to. There are no accounts, analytics or ads.
What stays on your phone
The volume you chose for each app and output, and your settings. Uninstalling Tune deletes them.
What Tune looks at
Which app is in front, and which apps are playing media, so it can set the right level. It never reads what’s on your screen or what your notifications say.
Permissions
What Tune asks Android for, and why:
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Accessibility | To know which app is on screen, and to show Tune’s panel when you press the volume buttons. No screen content is read. |
| Notification access | Android only shows other apps’ media sessions to apps with this. No notification is read. |
| Do Not Disturb access | Required by Android to change ring and notification volume. Tune never toggles Do Not Disturb. |
| Modify audio settings | To set volumes and attach the volume effects that let apps play at different levels. |
Children
Tune isn't aimed at children and collects nothing from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here and in the app's source repository, where every change can be seen.
